Cellulite

Intro – Cellulite is a common cosmetic condition characterised by the appearance of dimpled, lumpy, or “orange peel” textured skin on certain areas of the body, most commonly on the thighs, buttocks, hips, and sometimes on the abdomen. It is more prevalent in females and can affect individuals of all body types and sizes. Cellulite is not a medical condition and does not pose any health risks, but it can be a source of aesthetic concern for some people.

Causes

  • Fat Distribution: The way fat is distributed in the body and the structure of fat cells themselves may contribute to the appearance of cellulite. Cellulite occurs when fat cells push against the connective tissue beneath the skin, leading to a dimpled appearance.
  • Connective Tissue Structure: The structure and elasticity of the connective tissue that holds the skin and fat together can influence the appearance of cellulite. If the connective tissue is weak or inflexible, it may allow fat to bulge and create the characteristic dimples.
